Trans-Pyrenees Meeting 2007

Presentation of Network IBERNAM

Spanish Network IBERNAM was created in 2001 with the objective of promoting research and development on advanced Sensorial Microsystems by incorporating Nano-Microtechnologies in the fabrication of progressively smaller and smarter devices, reliable, with a low energy consumption and capable of working in the AMI space.

IBERNAM meets periodically to share results and establish collaborations in the frame of regional, national and european projects. So far, this mechanism seems to work efficiently in bringing together our affiliate groups to generate new projects and contracts.

At present we have 25 associate members: Research groups at universities and in the National Research Council (CSIC),Technological Centres, Foundations and Industrial partners. Every two years (Madrid 2002, Biarritz 2004, San Sebastian 2006) we hold a joint meeting with CMC2, our parallel Network in France with similar objectives.

This year 2007, and with the University of Zaragoza as host and the support of the Regional Administration, in the frame of Tans-Pyrenaic scientific cooperation, we will meet again to discuss with our French colleagues our recent advances and scientific and technological opportunities.

I want to express my deep gratitude to our colleagues and members of IBERNAM in Zaragoza, especially the groups from the Departments of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Electronic Engineering, and ICB: Jesus Santamaría, Santiago Celma, Nicolás Medrano, and Conchita Aldea, Edgar Muñoz. We are particularly in debt with Pili Pina and her team for the efficient arrangement of this event. Many thanks to all.

We remain also grateful to the Spanish Ministry of Education and the CSIC for the financial support of the network IBERNAM.

With my best wishes for a successful meeting,

Javier Gutierrez, Chairman of IBERNAM
